Over 46,000 People Collaborating for a Cause

When the war in Ukraine broke out, numerous people who were eager to provide assistance reached out to us immediately, expressing their desire to make a contribution. The solidarity shown towards those affected was and remains overwhelming! In just a matter of days, several thousand volunteers joined the "nachbarschafft’ Ukraine" campaign within our Austria-wide "fuereinand" community, providing support to refugees from Ukraine who have resettled in Austria.

Since then, our 'fuereinand' community has grown to include 40,000 people. These volunteers have provided a wide range of services, from assisting at train stations and managing the Ukraine Info Hotline to accompanying people and offering logistical support. They have also organized donations in kind and recorded around 200 stories in Ukrainian and Russian for the 'Read for Peace' podcast, giving families who have fled the war a brief respite. The support continues unabated, with many volunteers still dedicated to helping those affected by the war in Ukraine.

Overwhelming Solidarity

A collective total of over 60,000 hours of voluntary work have been dedicated to around 100 projects within the Ukraine assistance initiative by volunteers and the "fuereinand' community"!

Together with the "fuereinand" community, 46,000 people across Austria actively volunteer in our facilities, projects, and parishes. Their contributions are not limited to times of crisis; instead, they provide invaluable services to our clients day after day, ultimately benefiting social cohesion in our country.

We are immensely grateful for their magnificent support! Without their assistance, we would not be able to do what we do - helping people in need to live better lives.
