Inclusion of
Finding Your Dream Job Thanks to 'Kompass'
"I want to work with people and handle tasks on my own. I have achieved that. I have found my dream job." When 20-year-old Dennis Tecklenburg talks about his job as a kitchen assistant and waiter in the restaurant of a large furniture store, the young man from Vorarlberg beams from ear to ear. He works in the company four days a week, and every Friday is seminar day.
The young man with Down syndrome is currently participating in the two-year 'Kompass' qualification-training program offered by Caritas Vorarlberg, which provides comprehensive preparation for the working world. Throughout the program, Dennis is also acquiring a range of life skills, including managing banking transactions independently, conducting job interviews, learning about health topics, and using public transportation. As a result, Dennis has become proficient in all of these areas and no longer faces any difficulties,
"We have also visited various companies, and these insights made my career choice easier," says Dennis Tecklenburg. The enthusiastic soccer and floorball player in the Special Olympics also has ambitions in his private life and has already set his sights on the next goal: "Later on, I would like to live independently in my own apartment. That's what I want."
