Our Commitment to Advancing Care
As one of Austria's largest nursing and care organizations, we support numerous people every day—while relentlessly advocating for the systemic reforms this sector urgently requires.
Important strides have been made, including improved staff recruitment, modernization of the Healthcare and Nursing Act, and new provisions enabling short-term substitute care for family caregivers. Yet comprehensive structural reform is still pending. This transformation is crucial to future-proof Austria's care system, especially as demand is projected to double by 2050.

Significant disparities across Austria's federal states—in service availability, costs, quality, and staffing—pose serious challenges. Whether and how people receive care must never depend on where they live. This is why we need uniform national standards for services and financing, along with sustainable, long-term funding solutions for nursing and care.

Essential reforms must also shift care allowances toward prevention rather than deficit compensation, adopt a comprehensive workforce package, and harness digital innovation. We stand ready to support these urgently needed changes with our expertise.
